As part of the National Education Policy-2020, the Indian government aims to provide students all over the country with the “Academic Bank of Credits” (ABC) system, which will quench their thirst for knowledge by giving them the academic freedom to choose and alter their educational paths, connect disparate disciplines, and help them acquire the necessary foundations and building blocks for their goals.

A formal system of credit recognition, accumulation, transfers, and redemption has been built into the “Academic Bank of Credits” (ABC), an educational digital platform designed to facilitate students’ seamless mobility between or within degree-granting Higher Education Institutions (HEls) and encourage distributed and flexible teaching and learning. Students will be able to establish a choice-based credit transfer mechanism, view their credit accumulation on an interactive dashboard, and register for a unique ABC ID on the ABC platform.

Following a decision by the Ministry of Education, academic institutions are asked to onboard National Academic Depository (NAD) users exclusively through DigiLocker, which is currently the exclusive repository for NAD. Academic institutions may now email the former depositories, such as NDML or CVL, with instructions on how to move the data in accordance with University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines if they have already stored their academic data there.

KPPM College of Teacher Education has introduced the academic credit bank system with a future purpose of complete utilisation for our student teachers. The college digitalises the scores of academic development of student teachers assessing through oral and written evaluation at different spells. The teaching competency skills are assessed at six sessions using a standardised teaching competency scale and rubrics. These scores were also digitalized immediately after the observations. The aptitudes, teacher personality and social skills are also measured at entry and exit levels of the semester and practices. These scores also digitalized and it is verifiable by the students and any time using the student login. Similarly, the scores of value-added courses are also available at the portal.

The system will be available for the institutions for further studies and employment appointments on genuine request.
