Objectives
Preventive Measures: Create awareness about sexual harassment and promote gender sensitivity among all members of the college community.
Redressal Mechanism: Provide a structured process for addressing complaints related to sexual harassment.
Support System: Offer support to victims of sexual harassment in terms of counseling and guidance.
Composition
Chairperson: A senior female faculty member.
Faculty Representatives: Both male and female faculty members from various departments.
Student Representatives: Students from different batches and genders.
External Member: A legal advisor or a representative from an NGO working on women’s issues.
Counselor: A professional counselor to provide psychological support.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Awareness and Sensitization Programs: Conduct workshops, seminars, and campaigns to educate the college community about sexual harassment and related laws.
- Policy Formulation: Develop and implement a comprehensive policy against sexual harassment.
- Complaint Handling: Receive complaints, conduct thorough investigations, and ensure fair and confidential handling of cases.
- Support and Counseling: Provide necessary support and counselling to victims of sexual harassment.
- Reporting: Maintain records of incidents and actions taken, and submit periodic reports to the college administration.
Procedures
- Complaint Submission: Complaints can be submitted in writing or through a designated email. Anonymity can be requested.
- Initial Assessment: The cell will conduct an initial assessment to determine the validity of the complaint.
- Investigation: A detailed investigation will be carried out, maintaining confidentiality and fairness.
- Resolution: Based on the findings, appropriate action will be recommended, which may include disciplinary actions against the offender.
- Follow-Up: Regular follow-ups with the victim to ensure their well-being and address any further concerns.
