The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of India envisions a holistic teacher as one who goes beyond traditional pedagogy to nurture the overall development of students. In addition to meeting a variety of learning requirements and fostering social and emotional wellbeing, holistic teachers are expected to create a safe, accepting, and inclusive learning environment. They are essential in fostering morality, values, and a sense of patriotism, all of which are in line with the NEP’s objective of developing well-rounded people who are beneficial contributors to society. By exhibiting these traits, holistic educators play a pivotal role in revolutionising India’s educational system and promoting a culture of continuous learning and creativity.
